The Artist

Alexandra Bultel – Franco-Canadian Artist

Explorer, innovator, and specialist in SENSORY IMMERSION, Alexandra Bultel has dedicated her life to DEVELOPING, EXPERIMENTING, and EXPLORING forms of art for over 40 years. Her artistic approach consists of opening doors to INVISIBLE WORLDS and infinitely small worlds, revealing SECRET PASSAGES, and creating spaces where art becomes EXPERIENCE, OBSERVATION, and REFLECTION.
Her work aims to have a direct impact on HUMANS, promoting well-being, reflection on the world, and the development of OBSERVATION skills.

Alexandra began painting at the age of 16, and for several years she was a wandering artist, traveling the world to paint live in public spaces, share her creative process, and create moments of exchange and CONNECTION through art. She also led numerous collective art WORKSHOPS, allowing participants to EXPERIMENT, create, and EXPLORE their SENSORY PERCEPTION.
This approach gave her a profound understanding of the place of art in everyday life and its power to positively affect the well-being of city dwellers, often stressed or isolated. When returning to cities, she carefully selected locations to present her work and create artistic experiences that combine perception, material, and light.

She has participated in numerous solo and GROUP EXHIBITIONS, is part of the Montreal Diversity Artistic CATALOGUE and the Conseil des arts du Québec, and her works have been presented at prestigious events and venues such as the Festival of the Earth, the INAUGURATION of Place Émilie-Gamelin in Montreal with a two-meter sculpture, the International SALON (CIDIM), as well as in various contemporary art catalogues. Her work has been featured in multiple PRESS ARTICLES, including the most recent in Beaux-Quartiers (2025).
Since 2011, Alexandra has conducted in-depth research on IMMERSIVE and INTERACTIVE pathways, the creation of SENSORY spaces and immersive corridors, and the exploration of the interaction between material, light, movement, and perception. She was supported by the MDEIE, the CANADA RESEARCH CENTER, and Sainte-Justine Hospital for her experiments on the SENSORY and THERAPEUTIC IMPACT of art.

She also creates CUSTOM WORKS for PROFESSIONAL OFFICES, including medical and dental practices, designed to reduce stress and enhance patient well-being. In parallel, she produces numerous contemporary and design paintings, as well as topiary art and plant-based sculptures, where material, light, form, and SENSORY PERCEPTION combine to generate a DIRECT IMPACT on HUMAN EXPERIENCE.

Her current work unfolds across three major IMMERSIVE PROJECTS, where painting, live painting, photography, sculpture, topiary art, plant-based sculptures, and technology intertwine:
-
At the VILLA MEDICIS in Rome, Portae Feminae in Apertis Romae offers an IMMERSION into the heart of the city through mixed-media paintings and sculptures, with a PATHWAY designed to reveal PASSAGES between memory, architecture, nature, and creation.
-
At the CASA VELÁZQUEZ in Madrid, Passajes Secretos invites visitors to explore the city differently. Paintings, plant-based sculptures, and live creations are combined with mixed-technical works, and the interactive PATHWAY explores intimate locations and architectural PASSAGES, offering a playful and immersive experience.
-
The SCHNEIDER Prize H2O presents an INSTALLATION centered on water, with panels that respond to visitor movement and a MULTISENSORY experience integrating fragrances, sounds, and lights, revealing transparency, vibration, movement, and SENSORY PHENOMENA.
-

Alexandra’s artistic practice combines INNOVATION and EXPLORATION, exploring the infinitely large and infinitely small, the micro-world and macro-world, material, light, transparency, and SENSORY PHENOMENA, creating spaces where every opening, door, arch, or porch becomes an invitation to discovery, EXPERIENCE, and sensory engagement.
